I. What Are Maker and Taker?
Maker (Limit Order): An order that enters the order book and waits to be matched with subsequent orders, thereby providing liquidity to the market. [0.03%]
Taker (Market Order): An order that actively matches against existing buy or sell orders, thereby consuming liquidity from the order book. [0.05%]
Market orders are generally executed as Taker orders, while limit orders are not necessarily executed as Maker orders. If a limit order can be matched immediately with existing orders in the order book, the executed portion may also be charged at the Taker rate. Please refer to the actual trade records.
II. How Are Trading Fees Calculated?
For USDT-settled linear futures, the calculation can be understood as follows:
Trading Fee per Execution = Executed Notional Value × Applicable Fee Rate
Executed Notional Value = Executed Quantity (in units of the underlying asset) × Execution Price
If the quantity is displayed in 「contracts」, you must convert it based on the face value of each contract. Do not directly treat the number of contracts as the quantity of assets such as BTC or ETH.
Calculation Example
Suppose a trade is executed for 0.02 BTC at a price of 60,000 USDT. The notional value is 1,200 USDT. If the assumed fee rate applicable to this trade is 0.05%, the trading fee is:
1,200 × 0.05% = 0.6 USDT
The 0.05% rate here is for illustrative purposes only and does not constitute a fee rate commitment for your account or all MGBX futures. Please check the applicable standards for the relevant trading pair and account to confirm the actual fee rate.
III. Are Fees Charged for Both Opening and Closing Positions?
Both opening and closing positions involve trade executions, and fees are generally calculated separately based on the executed value and applicable fee rate.
Continuing with the example above, suppose you subsequently close the 0.02 BTC position at 61,000 USDT, with an assumed closing fee rate of 0.05%. The closing fee would be 0.61 USDT, bringing the total fees for both executions to 1.21 USDT. The profit from the price movement would be 20 USDT. Excluding funding fees and other costs, the net profit after deducting these two trading fees would be 18.79 USDT.
IV. How Does Leverage Affect Trading Fees?
Trading fees are calculated based on the executed notional value, not just the margin used. For the same executed quantity, price, and fee rate, the trading fee will not change directly as a result of different leverage settings.
If you increase leverage while keeping the same margin and expand your position size, the executed notional value will increase, resulting in higher trading fees. Therefore, when evaluating trading costs, you should focus on the actual position size.
V. How to Check Your Actual Fee Rates and Trading Fee Deductions?
- Web users can visit the MGBX 「VIP」 page to check the Maker / Taker fee rates applicable to their current account tier and any related discounts. The App will subsequently support checking fee rates through the 「More」 page. Please refer to the actual page display once this feature is launched.
- After placing an order, check the execution price, quantity, and actual trading fees in the trade details.
- Check the transaction history of your futures account to confirm the currency and amount of each fee deduction.
Different futures products, account tiers, or promotional arrangements may be subject to different fee rates. Fee rates published in historical announcements should not be treated as a uniform standard for all subsequent trades.
VI. Frequently Asked Questions
Are Trading Fees Charged When an Unfilled Order Is Canceled?
Unfilled portions of an order generally do not incur trading fees. If an order has been partially filled, fees will still be charged on the executed portion.
Are Funding Fees Also Considered Trading Fees?
No. Trading fees are incurred when trades are executed, whereas funding fees are calculated according to perpetual futures settlement rules and may be separately charged or credited while a position is held.
Why Do Actual Fees Differ from Estimates?
Please check the actual average execution price, individual fills, Maker / Taker status, quantity units, and precision. The final amounts should be verified against the trade details and account transaction history.
